Flying with PAL

Since I transferred to Subic a few years ago, I seldom use PhIlippine Airlines (PAL) to travel abroad. Cebu Pacific offers flight from Clark Airport, which is about an hour drive from Subic therefore my preferred airline. But for my Vietnam visit, I opted to go via PAL because the schedule is more suitable. I haven’t fly with PAL since 2008 so this a nice reunion (so to speak)!

My flight to Ho Chi Minh City was scheduled to leave Manila at 13.10 but it was delayed by 10 minutes. Not much of a trouble. Once on board the plane, they will not allow you to sit in the exit row (the one with more leg room) without paying additional USD50! I mean, there is no difference where you sit in the economy cabin as no one is going to occupy it anyhow since the plane is already in the air. The lunch was served in time, but it looks different now. They served rice with chicken, instead of a hot bread they served Rebisco crackers, fresh fruits was replaced with dried mangoes, and moist cake from Red Ribbon.

PAL meal

In general, they need to improve their meals and time. Stewardesses are courteous and thoughtful which somehow balance the poor meal. And, no alcohol on board! I don’t know if that is for all flights, but the flight I was in doesn’t serve alcohol.

Since this is my first visit to Vietnam after 2008, I’m excited and so looking forward to shop at their night markets and try Vietnamese food. Check my next posts about Vietnam!
